KOMA builds another school building

Over the nearly twenty-five years of its existence, KOMA has built over fifty modular school buildings. Education is an area on which KOMA focused from the innovative aspect and also from the promotional aspect. KOMA was the first company in the Czech Republic to build a modular kindergarten and has acquired the general respect and trust of its investors over the years. This is very important because the saying “one man’s meat is another man’s poison” is very apposite for the field of modular construction.
One of the most recent projects KOMA realised in the field of modular school buildings is the low-energy kindergarten in Podolí near Brno; the facility was ceremonially opened on 29 August 2014. The school is built using large-format Comfort modules and, with a total area of 418 m², offers space for 50 children in two classrooms. The kindergarten has an insulation system with full-colour plaster and meets the requirements of the B energy label for low-energy buildings. The classrooms are fitted with radiant heating. It is immediately evident that modular construction is not inferior to conventional construction in any aspect. On the contrary: the speed of construction using the KOMA modular system has no rival. We believe that this school building, which was realised thanks to subsidies from the European Union, will help shatter the myth that construction using modules means construction of Portakabins, or unsightly portable units.
